It should be remembered that previous productions of Layers of Reality have been present in 50 cities around the world (London, Berlin, Lisbon, Brussels, Montreal, New York, São Paulo, Singapore, Sydney, among others), exceeding 6 million visitors.
An extraordinary journey
Jules Verne is considered one of the greatest artists of all time. His literary works combine scientific and technological elements with imagination and a spirit of adventure, creating a fascinating collection that has connected with a wide and diverse audience. Verne's universe has profoundly influenced the literature, cinema, and popular culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, and continues to be a source of inspiration today. In his novels, the combination of art, science, and technology reaches the status of universal masterpieces.
For its part, the blockbuster Jules Verne 200 has the support and advice of the Société Jules-Verne, which has been publishing bibliographies, original versions of books, posthumous works and correspondence for over a hundred years. It also publishes the Bulletin of the Société Jules Verne (BSJV), which collects studies and unpublished works by the author. This bulletin is an essential source in Verne research, publishing new developments and scientific works from around the world.
From Georges Méliès and Segundo de Chomón to Joan Fontcuberta and Franc Aleu
Verne's literature inspired some of the great artists of the 19th century publishing engraving. In Jules Verne 200, the illustrations of Édouard Riou , Julio Férat and Léon Benett , among others, are combined with the creations of state-of-the-art digital arts. The experience also includes unpublished drawings of the storyboards that Georges Méliès made for his films inspired by Verne's novels, as well as stills and fragments of Segundo de Chomón 's films previously unknown in our country. One of the most striking elements of the exhibition is the installation created by Joan Fontcuberta and Franc Aleu , which uses artificial intelligence to generate mind-blowing images of some of the most iconic moments and landscapes of Verne's literature.
The exhibition occupies nearly 2,000 m², and the soundtrack for all the installations has been composed by Raffel Plana and recorded by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and Choir. The experience is spread across eight rooms, including: Pages Biographiques, Le Grand Pianisphère Numérique, Les Machines Verniennes, Voyages extraordinaires: Snapshots, La volta al món in 80 segundos and Meta Verne.
