Automobile Barcelona 2025: electromobility and innovation arrive at Montjuïc

Barcelona is preparing to host a new edition of Automobile Barcelona, the International Motor Show , which will take place from 9 to 18 May 2025 at the Montjuïc venue. With more than a century of history, this biennial event has consolidated its position as one of the major events in the sector in Europe, testifying to the transformation of the Spanish and European automotive industry, while adapting to technological advances and new market trends.

This year's edition will be marked by a strong commitment to electromobility and innovation in sustainable driving systems. With the support of the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC) , the show will feature prominent brands such as Tesla, Renault, Nissan, Ford, Hyundai, Seat and Cupra, among others.

According to Enrique Lacalle , president of Automobile Barcelona, the event has consolidated itself as one of the three main European shows and plays a key role in the transformation of the sector: “We are the best platform to support the industry and drive the change towards a more sustainable car fleet”. In this sense, Lacalle stated that “hybrid and electric vehicles are the future. Brands have made an extraordinary effort to transform their ranges and make them more sustainable and the public just needs to find a place to try them and convince themselves. That place is Automobile Barcelona”. Along the same lines, the general director of ANFAC, José López-Tafall , highlights that clean and connected mobility is unstoppable and that this type of event allows users to experience technological advances first-hand.

Sector data reinforces this trend: 2025 has begun with an 8.4% growth in passenger car registrations and a 34.3% increase in sales of electrified vehicles.

With the slogan Passion for the automotive industry, passion for Barcelona, the show will offer immersive experiences such as the Test Drive area, where visitors will be able to test drive new electrified models on the historic Montjuïc circuit. Automobile Barcelona thus remains true to its pioneering spirit, becoming a showcase for the future of mobility.
