Ramon Guillen-Balmes (Cornellà, 1951 - Barcelona, 2001) was an artist with a brief but intensely productive career, especially between 1991 and 1999, when he explored visual expressions far removed from established canons. His work is distinguished by the investigation of unusual forms and strange morphologies that, through a disturbing sensualism, awaken contradictory feelings in the viewer.
This creative line is captured in the exhibition Tot allo comprehensible amb una mà, which presents, for the first time in 23 years, a series of 50 drawings made between 1999 and 2001, the last of his production before his untimely death. The exhibition, hosted by the Galeria Marc Domènech , was initially on view in 2002 at the Galeria Pèrgamon as a tribute to the artist.
Un potser rotund, Ramon Guillen-Balmes (2001)
Guillen-Balmes' works play with notions such as desire and automatism, inviting us to reflect on the boundaries between the object, poetry and the unconscious. This series offers a visual experience that transcends form and pushes us to explore the mystery and complexity of human nature. Everything that can be understood with one hand thus becomes a testament to Guillen-Balmes' unique artistic universe, a universe that, more than two decades later, continues to fascinate and provoke.
