Born in Sabadell in 1945, Taulé began his artistic career in 1966 with his first exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown. Despite his training in architecture, he decided to focus on painting from 1973, a choice that profoundly marked his work. This decision, influenced by his training, meant that architecture not only shaped his way of conceiving space, but also became a fundamental element of his creative universe. Following the advice of his father, who suggested that architecture would be the best basis for being a good painter, Taulé uses the voids and transparency of constructions as essential resources in his works, seeing architecture as a metaphor for the human body.

Light and shadow have become his great creative allies. Through them, Taulé creates scenes that play with the idea of presence and absence, desolate interiors illuminated by a sudden brightness that transforms the perception of space. This almost cinematic effect transports the viewer to a place between reality and fiction, where borders blur. It is not surprising that his work evokes the aesthetics of science fiction, with its way of representing hypnotic environments and visions that seem extracted from another plane of reality.

The artist divides his time between Formentera and Paris —where he is now returning to exhibit until April 19—, two spaces that he considers essential for his creative process. It is these landscapes, so different from each other, that provide him with the energy necessary to develop his pictorial universe. Although he has never wanted to be linked to any particular artistic movement, his work has often been compared to the New Figuration, for his way of reinterpreting reality with a deeply personal perspective.

Beyond painting, Taulé has had a close relationship with the world of scenography, collaborating on theatrical and ballet productions. Among his outstanding works are the creation of scenographies for Rudolf Nureyev at the Palais Garnier in Paris and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He has also worked on stages in cities such as Barcelona, London, Venice and Madrid. His career has led him to exhibit in different corners of the world, with retrospective shows in places as diverse as the Saló del Tinell in Barcelona, the Hastings Foundation in New York, Japan, the Goya Museum in Castres and the Can Framis Museum in Barcelona. His works are part of permanent collections in institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the National Center for Contemporary Art in France and the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.

As Taulé himself states: "If the human being is not connected to the cosmos, he does not really exist." This vision is reflected in his way of understanding art as a medium that connects the individual with the universe, creating worlds that oscillate between tangible reality and a more enigmatic and metaphysical dimension.
