The Sala Parés in Barcelona is hosting a new exhibition by the Lleida artist Magí Puig , recognized for his ability to capture light and transmit the essence of urban landscapes and everyday scenes.
From a young age, Puig (Palau, 1966) showed a natural inclination for drawing, and during his university studies painting became his main form of expression. His works portray everyday scenes, such as local markets or moments of family life, and draw on his travel experience, with inspirations ranging from cities such as Paris, Venice and Havana to the landscapes of Senegal, Turkey, Cuba and Morocco. One of the most characteristic features of his work is the intensity of light, often represented with backlights that give off bright and penetrating colors. In his beach paintings, silhouettes are cut out on shiny surfaces that seem to merge with the sky and the sea. In urban landscapes, on the other hand, the artist tends to omit the human presence to focus on the architecture and how light transforms spaces.

Puig considers himself an alchemist of reality, capable of distilling the essence of complex moments and turning them into visual experiences that go beyond their superficial appearance. His meticulous technique and expressive use of color create a reality that appeals directly to the soul of the viewer. Since 2003, he has exhibited regularly at the Sala Parés in Barcelona, where he has consolidated a career that also includes international exhibitions in countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States.
