The critical view of Pere Noguera

The Vila Casas Foundation joins the Filmoteca de Catalunya , the Terracotta Museum and the Bòlit. Centre d'Art Contemporani de Girona to celebrate the Pere Noguera Year , an initiative that brings the artist to various locations in Catalonia. This 2025, cultural institutions across the country recognize the work of one of the great referents of conceptual art in Catalonia.

Pere Noguera (La Bisbal d'Empordà, 1941) has left a profound mark through an extensive artistic career, in which he has been able to reinvent and give a new dimension to the Catalan plastic tradition, becoming one of the pioneers in the development of conceptual arts in our country. To join this collective tribute, the Vila Casas Foundation presents two large-format installations at the Can Mario Museum, now integrated into the permanent collection, which invite reflection on our perception of the world. These works deal with issues as relevant as consumer society and our relationship with the environment, through an artistic vision focused on the object and materiality, but imbued with a great conceptual charge.

The exhibition Tot allon repetit occupies a unique place, which can be seen until November 23, presents Noguera's work with materials such as bricks, plates, glasses and cardboard, combined with mirror effects and light effects to create an experience that transgresses the usual perception of everyday objects. Through the accumulation of elements, such as newspapers, clothes and shoes full of paper, the artist reflects on the information society and daily routine, questioning the value of our interactions and perceptions . This manipulation of materials and objects, apparently simple, reveals Noguera's capacity to transform reality, making it deeper and more complex.

The exhibition at Can Mario aims to reclaim his legacy and, at the same time, invite us to reconsider our perceptions of what surrounds us through a critical, but also ironic and playful, gaze. The two installations, which had been out of focus for years, are thus recovered to form part of this tribute to a career that has marked a before and after in Catalan contemporary art.
