Faithful to its commitment to promoting new talents in the field of photography and with the desire to strengthen ties with the Empordà territory, the Vila Casas Foundation inaugurates the exhibition L'instint de l'artista Salvi Danés (Barcelona, 1985) at the Palau Solterra in Torroella de Montgrí . This exhibition offers a poetic visual interpretation of the landscape and daily life of the Empordà, captured through an intimate and reflective gaze.
The exhibition, which can be visited until June 8, brings together two of his latest photographic series, Cypsela and Maregassa, which explore the environment with a personal and evocative language. Cypsela, the name of a mythical city believed to be swallowed by the sea, symbolizes winter with an atmosphere of stillness and introspection. On the other hand, Maregassa, which evokes an altered sea, represents summer and the dynamism of the changing landscape. Through this seasonal contrast, Danés proposes a dialogue between two opposing atmospheres, showing their beauty and fragility.

With a documentary approach but loaded with artistic sensitivity, the photographer invites the viewer on a nostalgic journey that highlights the transience of life and the ephemeral nature of memories. Playing with the foundations of journalistic reporting and conceptual photography, he directs his camera towards scenes that relate fragments of various social realities with a direct, subjective and contemporary style. Inspired by the classic masters of photojournalism, he adapts the narrative codes of the genre to develop his own and expressive voice that gives depth to his stories.
Salvi Danés' work contains a strong autobiographical dimension, capturing intimate and personal moments of both his life and the people around him. He has documented moments of happiness, sadness, love and loss, and has discovered that these experiences, beyond their subjectivity, can connect with others and transcend the individual level. "The element that moves me is, first of all, curiosity and, secondly, the need to treasure something. Not in the sense of owning it, but of trying to capture it as I perceive it and transmit the sensations it generates for me," explains the artist.
