The INSPAI Image Centre has opened the call for the XXIII edition of the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award , a competition that seeks to promote and disseminate the work of young photographers between 18 and 30 years old from throughout Catalonia.
The chosen project, which must have a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 images, will receive a prize of 1,250 euros. Participants must submit a single photographic project that has not previously been awarded in other competitions or presented in previous editions of this award. In addition, works that use non-photographic techniques will not be accepted.
Projects can be submitted from March 3 to April 7, 2025 and can address any theme. Black and white or color techniques can be used, always respecting the requirements established in the contest rules. The technical and narrative quality of the project will be one of the main evaluation criteria by the jury.
The winning project will be presented at the INSPAI Image Center at the Casa de Cultura of the Girona Provincial Council during the autumn of 2025, and can also be seen at various photography festivals in the Girona regions, forming part of the Provincial Council's traveling exhibition program.
Barcelona, un parc temàtic, Miquel Muñoz
The Young Photographers of Catalonia Award is one of the most consolidated initiatives in cultural matters of the Girona Provincial Council. Created in 2001, it has promoted the careers of several emerging photographers. The last winner, Miquel Muñoz , won the award with his project Barcelona, a theme park, which documents the impact of mass tourism in the Catalan capital and continues to travel to different festivals. INSPAI, Centre de la Imatge, highlights the importance of this award as a platform to give visibility to new talents within the world of photography. The aim is to encourage artistic and documentary creation in the field of still images, as well as to encourage reflection on current issues through photographic language.
