27th Spring International Scholarship
bonart l'escala - 12/02/25

The City Council of L'Escala opens the call for the XXVII International Spring Scholarship, an opportunity for plastic and visual artists from all over the world who want to develop a research and creation project in a privileged environment. This scholarship offers the selected artists the possibility of staying for three months in Sant Martí d'Empúries, with accommodation, a workshop and financial support for their production. The main objective of the scholarship is to promote artistic creation and foster interaction between creators and the environment. The residency allows artists to delve deeper into their creative process in a workspace with all the necessary conditions, while establishing links with the community and the Empordà landscape.

This call is aimed at artists in disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, video and any other expression of the plastic and visual arts. Both individual creators and collectives formed by a maximum of two people can participate. The only requirement is to have a consolidated artistic career and commit to a continuous stay in the municipality during the spring months, from April to June 2025.

The selected person will enjoy an artistic residency at the Casa Forestal in Sant Martí d'Empúries. In addition, a workshop will be provided in the old Carolingian castle of Sant Martí d'Empúries, where part of the creative process will be developed and where, if availability allows, the final exhibition of the work done during the stay can be held. Once the residency has ended, the artist must commit to exhibiting their work in a municipal cultural facility in l'Escala, within the exhibition program of the Department of Culture. In addition to providing accommodation and workspace, the grant includes a creation grant of 2,500 euros, which will serve to cover expenses related to artistic production.

With the XXVII International Spring Scholarship, l'Escala reaffirms its commitment to contemporary creation and consolidates itself as a reference space for artistic research.
