The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) has closed the year of celebrations for its 40th anniversary with an institutional event held on December 19 in Terrassa. This closing was the culmination of a program of activities that have highlighted the trajectory of this reference in Catalan industrial, scientific and technical heritage.
During the event, which took place in the emblematic modernist building of Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, the impact of the museum since its inauguration on April 12, 1984 was highlighted. The Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández Almodóvar , highlighted the contribution of the MNACTEC as "an essential service for the valorization of Catalan industrial heritage". She also praised "the powerful trajectory of this unique, pioneering museum with well-deserved international prestige".

The event was also attended by Jaume Perarnau , director of the museum; Eusebi Casanelles , former director, and Jordi Ballart , mayor of Terrassa. The event, hosted by journalist Ferran Moreno , included the premiere of a commemorative documentary about the museum's four decades and a musical performance by the Albors Quartet .
With more than 20,000 pieces that reflect the history of technical ingenuity, the MNACTEC is a living testimony to the scientific and industrial evolution of Catalonia. Its collection ranges from audiovisual technologies to medical, transport or chemical equipment, with a special focus on innovations produced or developed in Catalan territory. Its thematic exhibitions, focused on areas such as energy, textiles or IT, not only offer a historical perspective, but also connect with current challenges. This educational and participatory vocation has positioned it over the years as a dynamic space, where research and dissemination are the fundamental pillars for bringing scientific knowledge closer to contemporary society, with a strong social involvement and impact.
With this closing ceremony of the commemorative year, MNACTEC culminates four decades of history, reaffirming its commitment to the preservation of Catalan cultural heritage and to innovation as a driving force for the future.
