Granollers will be the setting for a new artistic creation with the presentation of the photoceramic mural Granollers: Gran ull és, a work born from the collaboration between the artists Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) and Toni Cumella (1951, Granollers). This new installation, which is part of the Murs que Parlen project, stands out for being the first mural of the initiative created from photographs and ceramics, different from the murals painted in previous editions, and values the active participation of citizens, showing their contribution to the creation of a shared artistic heritage.
The mural, composed of 5,000 portraits of Granollers citizens , aims to capture the diversity and personal perspective of the city. Granollers residents were invited to participate by sending self-portraits and images of the places that most represented them. These photographs have been printed on ceramic tiles and will be arranged in such a way that they will form the image of a large eye, which is intended to be a symbol of a sincere, plural and unprejudiced view of the future of the city, and which, in addition, will form the image of the eye of the first baby born in Granollers in 2024.
The work will be inaugurated on Saturday, December 21 at 12pm at Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts , a leading cultural space in Granollers, where you can see the ceramics made by Toni Cumella, which give shape and texture to the photomosaic designed by Joan Fontcuberta.
This new mural values the active participation of citizens and shows their contribution to the creation of a shared artistic heritage.
