The Dalí Theatre-Museum continues to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, thus claiming its historical and cultural importance and asserting the legacy of Salvador Dalí.
On December 14th, the exhibition '50 years of the Dalí Theatre-Museum. The advertising construction of an artistic space' was inaugurated, which can be visited until March in the l'Escorxador Exhibition Hall and which transports you to Dalí's advertising universe, exploring how the artist used posters, photographs and postcards to position his museum as a cultural epicenter of international reference. Curated by Josep Playà and Max Pérez , the exhibition offers a journey from the metamorphosis of the old theater burned during the Civil War to its consolidation as a museum.
Beyond the exhibition, on Wednesday 18 December , the Theatre-Museum itself will be the setting for the presentation of the book History of the Dalí Theatre-Museum of Figueres. 50th anniversary. This publication, also coordinated by Playà i Pérez, brings together a series of articles that analyse the genesis and evolution of the museum, as well as its impact on the city in urban, cultural and economic terms. The texts, written by specialists such as Alfons Martínez, Josep Maria Bernils, Joan Falgueras, Pau Subirós, Rosa Maria Maurell, Clàudia Galli, Fede Luque, Mariona Seguranyes and Montse Aguer , director of the Dalí museums, reflect the rich network of collaborations that Dalí wove to make his vision a reality. The work, which has the support of the Girona Provincial Council and the Generalitat, is presented as a fundamental testimony to understanding the magnitude of this artistic project.
In addition to the exhibition and the book, parallel activities have been scheduled between January and March, including guided tours, children's and creative workshops, and a round table that will delve into the most unique aspects of the history of the Theatre-Museum. This range of events aims to highlight not only the past, but also the future possibilities of this space that aims to continue reinventing itself.
