If there is one thing that unites Joan Brossa (Barcelona, 1919-1998) and Chema Madoz (Madrid, 1958) it is the ability to look beyond what seems obvious. Through their works, both have transgressed reality and everyday objects to transform them through unexpected and at the same time meaningful connections. Now, for the first time, the Prats Nogueras Blanchard gallery shows in 'Juegos Reunidos' the connections between these two creators.
Joan Brossa, visual poet par excellence, and Chema Madoz, master of conceptual photography, share a special sensitivity for deciphering the hidden relationships between objects, ideas and meanings. His works are a constant exploration in order to show that the most trivial object can be loaded with symbolism. His works decontextualize, manipulate and give new meanings to what we already know.
The exhibition invites you to play, to question the usual logic and reconsider the function of things. This poetic look shared between the two is a way of inhabiting the world, of deciphering its multiple layers and of highlighting the infinite possibilities hidden behind every detail. 'Juegos Reunidos' shows this connection between Brossa and Madoz. Although Fotopoemario was already published in 2019, a work that unites Madoz's photography with Brossa's metaphors, the current exhibition goes further. His works coexist in a common space, where the immaculate white of the walls of Prats Nogueras Blanchard evokes the feeling of being inside a world where everything is interconnected and in constant dialogue.
The exhibition, which is still a tribute to both, highlights a way of doing and thinking, and at the same time invites us to imagine and rethink our own way of understanding what surrounds us.
