Neus Colet: engravings and sculpture

In the context of Art Week in Catalonia , last Sunday Canals Galeria d'Art inaugurated a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Neus Colet , which brings together works created between 1990 and 2020. The pieces, personally selected by her, are an approach to his career and allow us to discover how, over the years, he has developed his own artistic language.

Born in Barcelona in 1963 and settled in Sant Cugat, Colet began her artistic career training in Fine Arts. Over the years, he has worked with iron as the basis of his sculptures, incorporating engraving since 1996, which has become an essential part of his creative process. Through his knowledge of physical space, the position of objects, geometry and light, he creates compositions that explore the dialogue between forms and surfaces. His works seek to reflect a constant search for the balance between the two-dimensionality of the engraving and the depth of the sculpture, playing with concepts such as openness, closure and visual perception.

In the work of Neus Colet, this balance stands out between the solidity of materials such as iron and bronze and the delicacy of the engravings, which bring a special sensitivity through textures and details. This duality is a constant in his artistic production and is fully reflected in this retrospective. Beyond retracing his career, the exhibition highlights the artist's ability to reinvent himself without losing coherence with his materials and themes. His works, which have traveled both nationally and in several European countries, consolidate Neus Colet as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene.
