The digital artist Efrén Mur questions the limits of human perception with 'It from bit', an interactive audiovisual installation in the Matadero center in Madrid . In this space, five works and an interactive system that fuses art and technology build a mutable reality through public participation.
With a career that has taken his works to iconic spaces such as Times Square in New York, the LACMA in Los Angeles or Art Dubai, Mur uses technology as a channel to transform individual perception into a collective experience. The motion sensors installed in the space capture and process the circulation flows of the attendees, turning them into data that feeds the installation itself, creating a dynamic reality that rethinks the barriers between the observer and the object observed All together, thanks to a performative technology that combines creativity, software programming and hardware design.
Efrén Mur's proposal examines philosophical concepts such as interdependence and collective consciousness, remembering that reality is not fixed, but is constantly created and recreated through observation and interaction. Drawing inspiration from theories such as those of the physicist John Archibald Wheeler, Mur highlights that the observer is not passive, but an active agent in the construction of the world around him. This approach connects at the same time with disciplines such as sociology and psychology, which emphasize the importance of context and personal experience in the interpretation of reality. Thus, 'It from bit', which is Mur's first solo exhibition, goes beyond the aesthetic realm to open a conceptual debate on the way we perceive and interpret the world.
The installation, which can be visited from today, December 5, until March 9, exemplifies the innovative spirit of Efrén Mur, a creator who explores the limits of digital to provide artistic and philosophical value.
