Bonart magazine will celebrate its 25th anniversary - which starts this November and will end in November 2025 - with a battery of activities around the country - which will be officially presented in January next year - the first of which is the 6th edition of the Bonart awards. These awards in this edition will be held the same week, at Espai “la Caixa” in Girona on Tuesday 19 November 2024 and at the Caixafòrum in Barcelona on Friday 22 November. Both events will recognize the work of twenty outstanding institutions and professionals who have contributed to the dissemination and promotion of contemporary art and culture in Catalonia and elsewhere.
During the event, a video art by Roc Parés will be presented with the 200 covers created for the magazine during its twenty-five years of existence, as well as the audiovisual contributions of the artist IEX Cosmonauta to introduce the awardees and the introductory videos of the publishing house's birth. There will also be improvisational music by drummers Ramon Prats and Vasco Trilla . In addition, the awards are an A d'Art of the Gaudí typeface , designed by the late and illustrious Ricard Giralt-Miracle - which will also be the typeface of the new Bonart Cultural group logo.
Awards in Girona
The first celebratory event will take place at the Espai Fundació "la Caixa" in Girona on November 19, at 7 p.m. , where awards will be given to various entities and initiatives that have stood out in the cultural field of the Girona regions . The hosts of the event will be journalists Mercè Sibina and Jordi Grau .
Among the awardees, the Contemporary Art Chair of the University of Girona will be recognized for its 25 years of research and dissemination in contemporary art and cultural theory, as well as for its role as the seat of the European Live Art Archives. The Town Council of Castell, Platja d'Aro and s'Agaró will also be awarded for their work in the dissemination of public sculpture in Parc dels Estanys, a space that integrates art and nature. In addition, the elBulli 1846 Museum will be recognized as a world-wide pioneer in the creation of a museum space dedicated to gastronomy, as well as the Olot School of Art and Design for its educational work and support to Bonart's typographic initiative in the headers of all issues.

The awards will continue with the Valvi Foundation , which will be awarded for its work in the dissemination of contemporary art in the Girona regions for more than twenty years, and the Diputació de Girona , which will receive recognition for its program of traveling exhibitions that bring contemporary art to less densely populated municipalities. In addition, the Estany Foundation will be awarded for its Art Especial project, which has succeeded in breaking down the barriers between art and (dis)ability.
The architects of the RCR studio will also receive an award for their international career, their contribution to the promotion of the values of architecture and the landscape, as well as their commitment to the Village's initiative - Lab de pansamento-. Finally, the Angelus Novus Foundation will be recognized for its work in the preservation and dissemination of the figure of Walter Benjamin, especially through the Casa Walter Benjamin project in Portbou and the City Council of l'Escala will be awarded for its commitment to the contemporary art through its extensive cultural programming in various municipal spaces, as well as through the spring grants and the Muses festival.

Awards in Barcelona
The celebration of the Bonart Awards will continue in Barcelona on November 22, also at 7 p.m. , where awards will be given to new institutions and projects with a more focused look at contemporary art. The event, which will take place in the CaixaForum Auditorium , will be presented by cultural journalists Carolina Rosich and David Escamilla , the latter co-director with Ricard Planas of the Inclassificables podcast from Catalunya Ràdio .
Among those awarded in Barcelona, the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia will be recognized for its 40 years of work in the cultural backbone of the country, highlighting its consolidation of industrial heritage and support for the relationship between art and science. The Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona (CCCB) will also be awarded for its work of more than 30 years in the dissemination of contemporary arts and reflection on the global challenges of today's society.
The prize for the recognized international career of the Miguel Marcos Gallery will also be presented at this event, as well as for its role in the international dissemination of Joan Brossa's legacy. In addition, the Government of Andorra will be awarded for its new Andorra la Vella Art Center and for its high-level programming, hosting exhibitions by artists such as Victor Vasarely or Orlan. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao will receive a special award for the trajectory of its management since its opening, with Juan Ignacio Vidarte at the helm, consolidating the museum as an international reference.

In addition, the Terres de l'Ebre Lo Pati Art Center will be awarded for its work in the dissemination of contemporary art in the Terres de l'Ebre, and Art Singular will be recognized for its initiative to bring the art to people with other (dis)abilities, from the Josep Santacreu Foundation in Guissona. The Museum of Prohibited Art will also receive the award for its commitment to give visibility to art that has often remained invisible. In Barcelona, Jaume Plensa will also be awarded for his exhibition at La Pedrera, the scenography of the Liceu and for his contribution to the internationalization of art made from Catalonia. Finally, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona will be recognized for its continued educational work and its connection with the cultural agents of Catalonia.
With these two celebratory events, Bonart wants to value the initiatives that have favored the cultural and artistic growth of Catalonia, both locally and internationally, recognizing the commitment of the institutions, foundations, administrations and professionals who work for art and culture.
