From the 8th to the 10th of November, the Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro and S'Agaró Photography Days were held at Masia Bas in Platja d'Aro. It should be remembered that, since 2014, Fotoplatjadaro has been bringing photographic culture to photography enthusiasts and professionals through workshops, courses, seminars, competitions, exhibitions and Photography Days in Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro and S'Agaró.
Regarding the conferences, the organizers, in a critical review, state that "we have identified that there is a chronic underrepresentation of women among our speakers. A lack of visibility that does not correspond to the large group of professionals, artists, thinkers, students and other women interested in photography. For this reason, we have built this 11th edition around photographers and women professionals in photography who think, reflect, create, star and are an indispensable and consubstantial part of La Fotografia".
This is an initiative of the City Council and the Mercè Rodoreda Library , and the coordination of the activities is in charge of the Photographic Association "Educant la Mirada" . The activities and photography days are free to participate, with prior registration.
For this edition, the image of Frances Benjamin Johnston (1864-1952) has been chosen, considered the first female photojournalist in history and the first woman to earn a reputation as the "unofficial" photographer of the White House.
