There are returns that transcend the simple return home, and this is what we find in 'Returns', the last exhibition by Eva Llorens (Girona, 1970). This creator, immersed in an exploration of her own artistic essence, has learned to look beyond recognizable forms. In the Martí i Pol i Mercè Huerta rooms of the Valvi Foundation (Girona) , Llorens presents a set of recent works that can be visited until January, the result of deep and introspective research that reflects his pictorial evolution. In this process, abstraction takes over, freeing the painting from any explicit subject matter.

'Returns' marks a new stage for the artist after an eight-year stay in New Zealand, where he immersed himself in a fusion of styles and let himself be carried by his instinct, in a hand-to-hand with color and light. Eva Llorens does not paint to capture reality; paint to meet her again. As she says herself: “I'm not looking for perfection or similarity, but acceptance and the essence of things. For me, painting is going back and forth, as many times as necessary, to finally be able to meet again.”

A journey towards a subjective universe of light and colour, where reality is broken down and reconstructed, and painting becomes a way back to oneself.

The opening, next November 12, will include a conversation with the artist, Maguí Noguer and Germina Bastardas, at 7 in the afternoon.
