Let's keep good journalism and commitment to culture
Once again, the Night of Magazines and Press in Catalan was a demonstration of the transformative power of publications in Catalan and a vindication of their role in the defense of quality journalism.
Germà Capdevila , president of APPEC , took the opportunity to praise magazines as a "refuge of good journalism" in the midst of a landscape saturated by the immediacy of information and the proliferation of fake news. According to Capdevila, magazines and publications in Catalan become spaces where journalism can still go deeper and offer quality content, rigorous and free from the distortions of social networks.
Enric Calpena , renowned journalist, received the Communication Award ; the Ona Pau Claris Bookstore , one of the places of reference for lovers of reading in Catalan, won the Culture Award ; and the organization Cultura Activa d'Andorra was awarded the Society Award , in recognition of its contribution to the dissemination of Catalan culture in an often adverse context.
The awards for the best publications went to outstanding media such as Descobrir (Best Magazine), the Ara newspaper (Best Daily Press), Som Rurals (Best Non-Daily Press) and elvallenc.cat (Best Digital Publication), reflecting the diversity of the scene Catalan media.
The best reportage was also awarded in several categories, with awards for Ateneus for 'Tot un món de festivals', in the category of Magazines; for El 9 Nou with 'Terra de Masies', in the Press; and for lamira.cat for the work 'The first Catalan podcasters?', an immersion in the world of the pioneers of podcasting in Catalan.
