Bianyal XI: ephemeral art in the Vall de Bianya

Bianyal XI: ephemeral art in the Vall de Bianya

Mas Sobeies, an emblematic farmhouse located in the Vall de Bianya, will host tomorrow, Saturday October 12, the eleventh edition of the Bianyal, an artistic event that explores the connection between the work of art and the passage of time . This edition proposes an experience made up of six artistic interventions that will take place over the course of a single day. Following the format of its predecessor, Bianyal maintains temporal sequencing as a central axis, with each work having 30 minutes to unfold and generate a direct dialogue with time . The interventions are not set up beforehand, but appear and dissolve within the same proposed time frame.

One of the fundamental characteristics of the Bianyal is its commitment to simplicity in the assembly process, seeking to minimize prior preparation and turning each work into an ephemeral presence that dialogues with space and time. This initiative has been transformed throughout its editions. Although in its beginnings the proposal included artistic tours through hermitages, natural environments or post-industrial spaces, the last three editions have concentrated on the surroundings of Mas Sobeies, thus offering a more intimate day.

Proposals of the eleventh edition

The day will begin with Elena Boix 's work, entitled 'It's inside', which consists of an installation that uses drawing and ceramics to reinterpret the heart as a sacred element. Symbolically located on an altar in the hermitage of Sant Andreu de Socarrats, this proposal transforms the iconography of the place, challenging both fear and veneration and modifying the perception of the original cult. Next, Enric Farrés Duran will present 'Work Table', an outdoor sculpture that reacts to its environment and invites reflection on the intersection between reality and fiction, discovering hidden connections between objects and spaces through speculative research processes.

Jonàs Forchini will intervene in the Mas Sobeies pond with 'La Bassa', an underwater photographic work in which the artist, immersed for thirty minutes, alters the surface of the water with his movements. Josep Maynou , for his part, proposes 'Unusual routine', a sculptural tour that explores various spaces of the Mas, presenting pieces that play with everyday objects and the domestic space, such as a basketball basket on the facade or a wooden sculpture and toilet paper in the toilet. Alex Reynolds and Alma Söderberg also contribute their proposal with 'La mano que canta', a video that merges their artistic practices, combining choreography and visual arts to explore the tension between sound and visual, with political and aesthetic implications. Already in the afternoon, Jaume Clotet will present 'ALUSINASONS', a performative listening session that acts as a prelude to a theatrical show, where a character lets himself be carried away by the delirious logic of alcohol and the festive imagination. The day will close with Edntropikal's DJ session, which will offer a selection of contemporary tropical electronic beats and Afro-Latin sounds from the 70s and 80s.
