The Pigment Gallery is preparing to host a very special exhibition celebrating art without borders and the expression of creative diversity. From October 10 to 20, 2024, its walls will be filled with art with the third edition of the Premi Setba exhibition, a competition that highlights the work of artists with intellectual disabilities. Organized by the Setba Foundation since 2010, this event not only highlights the artistic talent of this collective, but also celebrates the power of art as an inclusive and transformative tool.
This year, the prize had the participation of more than 1,100 works sent by 85 entities from all over Catalonia, and the exhibition will present 12 works selected from among the winners and finalists. Among them, the piece that won the first prize, 'Roots and Wings' by Ruben Afonso (Fundació Ampans), stands out, which impressed the jury for its deep connection with nature and symbols of personal growth. The second prize went to 'La Cadira' by Marta Cañada (Centre Ocupacional Sant Tomàs), a work that invites reflection, and the third prize went to 'Planetarium' by Noelia Bernal (Fundació Ampans), an evocative look towards the universe
Currently, the Setba Award is the most well-endowed competition in the Spanish State and brings together professionals from the art world, organizations and companies with the aim of detecting and claiming the artistic work of this group. This event would not be possible without the support of Barcelona City Council, Bizcabar and Capital Care, as well as the collaboration of various entities and foundations such as Barna Art, Bardinet, Dincat, Fundació "la Caixa", the Guild of Galleries of 'Art of Catalonia, IDEAL, the European Institute of Design, the Barça Immersive Museum and MIR Paintings.
The inauguration will take place today, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona.
