Estudio Laterna, located in Santa Gertrudis (Eivissa), hosts the exhibition 'From the origins', a solo show by the artist Eduardo Chillida Belzunce . Curated by Andrea Sánchez and Susana Álvarez San Martín, this exhibition offers an intimate journey through the artistic career of Chillida Belzunce.

Eduardo Chillida Belzunce, born in Sant Sebastià in 1964, is the son of the renowned sculptor Eduardo Chillida and Pilar Belzunce, and grew up immersed in a deeply artistic environment. From an early age, he showed a natural inclination for art, creating his first sculpture at just five years old. However, a serious motorcycle accident in 1985 marked a turning point in his life, forcing him to relearn many skills, including painting with his left hand.

For many years, Chillida Belzunce focused on painting, developing a personal trajectory away from sculpture, although always under the influence of his father's work. However, from the year 2000, he resumed sculptural practice and has since successfully combined the two disciplines. He has shown his work in emblematic spaces such as the Louvre and Lower Grosvenor Gardens in London.

The exhibition 'Desde los orígenes' stands out for introducing Chillida Belzunce to the world of abstraction, as well as showing a combination of his renowned figurative works and bronze sculptures. In this exhibition, the artist delves into pure abstraction, seeking to capture the most primal essence of creation. This new facet is particularly captivating due to its power, intense character and the great dreamlike charge it conveys.

Inside the gallery, visitors can enjoy his architectural representations of interior spaces, full of symbolism and with an exquisite use of light and shadow, creating environments where the human presence is subtly perceived. In the garden of the Laterna Studio, the exhibition takes on a new dimension with the iconic sculptures of hands and hugs in bronze by Chillida Belzunce, which symbolize intimacy and human connection, highlighting the strength of the human gesture.

Estudio Laterna, known for its commitment to artistic innovation and its integration with the landscape, becomes the perfect setting for this exhibition, which celebrates Chillida Belzunce's artistic career and offers a new facet of his work.
