Valencia is preparing to welcome a new season of contemporary art with the twelfth edition of Open Valencia, an event that turns the city into the epicenter of creativity and artistic thinking. Organized by LAVAC (Contemporary Art Galleries Association of the Valencian Community), this project brings together the main galleries, offering the public the opportunity to connect with contemporary art.
During the event, which takes place from September 27 to October 4, 2024, the public will be able to enjoy multiple activities: guided tours, round tables and the iconic ARCO GalleryWalks and Rutes de l'Art de Cervezas Alhambra, which offer a direct and close approach to the exhibitions. These activities allow you to explore the artistic proposals in an immersive way, accompanied by experts, curators and artists who will explain the details of each exhibition.
The participating galleries in this edition of Open Valencia include: Galería Alba Cabrera, Galería Thema, Galería Luis Adelantado, Jorge López, Tuesday to Friday, Galería Rosa Santos, Galería Vangar, Galería Isabel Bilbao, Casa Bancal, Galería Espai Nivi Collblanc, Galería Benlliure, La Mercería, Set Espai d'Art, Galería Cuatro, Galería Ana Serratosa, Gabinete de Dibujos and Shiras Galería.
One of the central events of this edition will be the group exhibition 'Mirades Obertes', which will take place at the Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània. Curated by Isabel Pérez and Boye Llorens Peters, this exhibition offers an open and plural vision of contemporary creation through the works presented by the LAVAC galleries. 'Mirades Obertes' does not aim to define trends or artistic currents, but to show the diversity of proposals that coexist in the market today. With a wide range of techniques, from drawing and painting to ceramics, photography and installation, the exhibition welcomes artists of different ages and trajectories, reflecting the wealth of perspectives that characterizes today's art. Within this exhibition, four large formats by the artist Helga Grollo stand out in particular, which bring a powerful voice to the collective. This collective exhibition will be open until October 27, offering a tour of the most representative artistic proposals of the contemporary Valencian scene.
