Tarragona becomes a scene of art and magic with the new exhibition of Josep Maria Rosselló, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary art. Last September 6, the La Catedral Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Chapter of the Tarragona Cathedral, inaugurated two exhibitions that not only celebrate his work, but also his life and essence Tarragona artist.
The tour of this double show begins with 'La Suite Ponciana', a collection of 29 works that are exhibited in the main room of the gallery. This set reveals the inner universe of Rosselló, a mixture of colors, shapes and emotions that captivates the viewer. The second exhibition, entitled 'La Experimental Da Vinci', presents 15 large-format works in the Gothic courtyard of the Palau del Cambrer, a historic space that becomes the perfect setting for these pieces. Each work has been carefully selected by the artist himself, offering a comprehensive view of his creative evolution throughout different stages of his career.
Recognized as one of the most influential artists of his time, Rosselló has exhibited his work in major cultural capitals, from Barcelona to New York, passing through cities such as Rome, Geneva and Paris. With more than 100 international exhibitions, his ability to connect with audiences around the world has been more than proven. In 2014, the city of Tarragona granted him the title of favorite son, in recognition of both his work and his contribution to the local cultural heritage.
His pictorial style moves subtly between surrealism and expressionism, creating a dreamlike world fueled by mysticism and poetry. Each of his brushstrokes establishes a dialogue with the viewer, inviting him to decipher the deep mysteries of his own soul. Enigmatic figures, suggestive landscapes and atmospheres full of symbolism form a unique visual universe.
The exhibition at the La Catedral Art Gallery, which will remain open until September 29, offers an exceptional opportunity to discover or rediscover Rosselló's work. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy selected pieces by other recognized artists of Catalan painting from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
