The Night of Art illuminates, once again, the beginning of the artistic season in the Balearic Islands, turning Palma into a meeting place for creativity, contemplation and artistic experimentation.
This Saturday, September 21, from 6 to 11 p.m., the 28th edition of the Night of Art arrives, organized by Art Palma Contemporani. The event marks the start of the exhibition season in Mallorca, offering a wide variety of contemporary art exhibitions, activities and cultural routes through the island's main galleries and museums.
This year, the 12 associated galleries participating in the Art Night are : ABA ART LAB, BARÓ, CCA Andratx, Fermay Gallery, Fran Reus Gallery, KEWENIG Palma, LA BIBI, L21, Maior Pollença, Pelaires Gallery, Pep Llabrés Art Contemporary and Xavier Fiol Gallery. In addition, two attached spaces are added: Tube Gallery and 6A Workshop and Art Gallery, as well as two independent spaces: TACA and STAIN projects.
Between tradition and the avant-garde
La Nit de l'Art de Palma 2024 presents a varied and rich selection of local, national and international artists.
Majorcan painter Rafel Joan stands out for his continuous exploration of light and its effects on nature. Robert Ferrer , also resident in Mallorca, presents himself as an heir to Spanish geometric abstract art, with works that play with space and three-dimensionality through elegant and minimalist forms. Marta Blasco , a Valencian living in Mallorca, offers us a deep reflection on the relationship between drawing and painting.
'Sabonera espessa', Rafel Joan
On an international scale, this edition features highly prestigious names such as Lygia Clark , Brazilian artist and one of the key figures in Latin American art. Ghada Amer , recognized for her subversive use of embroidery in the visual arts, presents works that question gender stereotypes and power hierarchies. In addition, Scottish painter Janice McNab brings to the show a series of works that explore the female experience, focusing on the everyday and its invisible connotations. Also noteworthy is Miju Lee , a Korean artist who delves into the emotional universe through paintings that reflect the fragility and strength of human relationships.
Among emerging artists, Sebastian Burger brings a contemporary perspective on the fragmentation of the body in a highly digitized world. Stach Szumski , on the other hand, offers a reinterpretation of human anatomy, playing with pictorial structures that break down and reinterpret the body from various visual perspectives.
The great names of Spanish art are also present, such as the renowned José María Yturralde , a pioneer in the exploration of kinetic and abstract art.
In the field of group exhibitions, you can enjoy works by international artists such as Mathilde Rosier , known for her dreamlike works that explore the relationship between nature and the human psyche; José Dávila , with his minimalist sculptures that defy gravity; and Janet Cardiff , a Canadian artist famous for her immersive sound installations. The exhibition also includes the work of Rebecca Horn , one of the most influential artists of her generation.
Finally, the Catalan artist Regina Giménez stands out with a solo exhibition, consolidating herself as one of the most active figures in the contemporary art scene.

In this edition of the Night of Art, the collaboration between galleries and institutions has resulted in a rich and varied program. The exhibition of Concha Jerez at Casal Solleric stands out, a pioneer of conceptual art in Spain, with an award-winning career for her critical exploration of issues such as memory and censorship. In Es Baluard, we find two important exhibitions: the Carlos Garaicoa exhibition, which addresses urban reality and social tensions, and AIDS. A silenced story, which reflects on the impact of HIV/AIDS on the Balearic Islands with works by prominent artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe.
The Miró Mallorca Foundation presents exhibitions by Max de Esteban and Laia Ventayol , as well as the Calder & Miró project. guests In the Llotja, you can see the individual exhibition of Jaume Plensa , known for his monumental sculptures. José María Yturralde also exhibits at the Misericordia, with an exhibition curated by Carlos Jover on abstract and kinetic art. Finally, the ICAIB and the Pollença Museum offer a guided tour of the Tercet exhibition by Danny Rolph .
