42nd Book Week in Catalan

The 42nd edition of Catalan Book Week is here, which this year is moving to Paseo de Lluís Companys due to the celebration of the Copa América at Moll de la Fusta.

The event will open on September 21 with a show dedicated to youth literature, where instrumental music and rap will be merged to present books in this genre.

With 298 exhibitors, this year's Week will offer books from a wide range of 195 publishers, 24 bookstores, and other cultural institutions from Catalonia and the Catalan Countries. In addition to the sale of books, as every year there will be author signings, presentations, concerts, recitals, literary itineraries and activities for families and young people.

A notable novelty is the video podcast 'Trames', which will consist of eight episodes with conversations between writers, such as Sergi Pàmies, Clara Queraltó and Maria Nicolau, on universal themes discussed in literature. In addition, around 100 autumn literary novelties will be presented with prominent names such as Laia Aguilar, Mercè Ibarz and David Cirici.

Catalan Book Week will include 300 activities, among which three themed mornings stand out: September 25th dedicated to libraries, 26th Òmnium Cultural, and 27th Social Week, focused on students from high-complexity centers without regular access to Catalan literature.

This edition will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mecanoscrit of the second origin and will close with an improvisation show by Judit Martín. The awards of this edition recognize Marc Giró for the 2024 Diffusion Award and Pilarín Bayés with the 2024 Career Award.

Bonart at Catalan Book Week

On Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m., Bonart will participate in the Sofà Vermell de les Revistes, a space for breaks, reading and small conversations, organized by APPEC. On this occasion, Bonart will offer a poetic reading of Brossa, by the poet David Escamilla.
