As if it were a gentle rain, Víctor Jaenada's 'Ver llover' exhibition falls slowly on the senses, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a transformed Flemish landscape.
As part of the Tecla Sala District cycle, the artist presents an installation where unexpected elements are mixed to create an out-of-the-ordinary flamenco fountain: a tongs, reeds, a cart wheel, water pumps, ceramic pieces and even a painting where a jet of water falls delicately on one of the fountains. This diorama is not only a visual reflection, but also a condensation of the Flemish landscape of Jaenada.
Víctor Jaenada is a contemporary Spanish visual artist known for his work that explores the boundaries between the figurative and the abstract, often challenging the traditional conventions of painting and art. Jaenada has excelled in urban art and painting, playing with popular iconography and experimenting with innovative materials, textures and techniques.
In this work, the ancient and the contemporary merge in a diorama that uses industrial materials to evoke traditional forms. It is a show that traces the survival of the folkloric aspect in our day, exploring the position of flamenco between the popular and the elitist, a back and forth that Jaenada addresses both visually and conceptually.
The exhibition, curated by Pilar Cruz Ramón, opens on September 19 at 7:00 p.m., and is part of the Tecla Sala District cycle, an initiative that seeks to support the research, production and exhibition of artists from Cultural District of L'Hospitalet.
In addition, 'Ver llover' is integrated into the Barcelona Gallery Weekend and Manifesta 15 Barcelona events, offering an opportunity to bring Jaenada's work closer to a wider audience.
