Tinglado 1 inaugurates 'Santiago Arranz. Between art and literature'
bonart tarragona - 22/07/24

Tinglado 1 opens the exhibition on July 25, curated by Ramon Casalé Soler, Santiago Arranz. Between art and literature. The exhibition can be visited until September 8.

As Ramon Casalé Soler writes: "Santiago Arranz usually works from a perspective that is considered unique, since most of the works have a special symbolism based on emotions, feelings and above all moods that orbit in consonance with a set of schematic and anthropomorphic alphabets that are transformed into a specific metalanguage, where nature - the plant world, the animal world or the landscape itself - and the fragmented human body become appearances or forms, from a perspective that combines the figure with the abstraction the geometric abstraction.

The artist divides the exhibition space into three sections, relating the works to certain literary texts, the world of exile and the artist's books - in collaboration with various authors. In all of them, one notices the attraction and fascination produced by some of the characters we have mentioned previously along with authors such as Gérard Georges Lemaire -through Les cafés littéraires and the Bestiare-, François Cheng -El exilio como posibilidad de una lengua nueva–, Stefan Zweig – Exile as failure and suicide– or Antonio Machado himself – Exile as interior melancholy–.

This dichotomy between artistic and literary work is a compendium of aspects, anecdotes and situations that appear in the books of these extraordinary writers, poets and philosophers whose works Santiago Arranz has been able to carefully translate, leaving evidence that the word and the image serve to grasp the reality or unreality of any circumstance that happens in its immediate environment or not, but that for the artist has a differential and gradual meaning, and therefore it is necessary to show it as he perceives it, and the best way to check it is to contemplate Santiago Arranz. Between art and literature."
