Onyx and Massegú. Fashion and Contemporary Art in Girona

The Onix Girona store stands out for being one of the few in the city that has established a perennial link with a contemporary art artist. This collaboration, with no limits to creativity, has resulted in a perfect symbiosis between fashion and art.

The link began with the innovative idea of Les Lampbambs, a series of light sculptures created from old sports equipment bought in the store. These artistic pieces gave shoes a second life, transforming them into functional works of art. The artist Edgar Massegú has also decorated the shop's windows with works of art made from recycled materials and clothing, creating a visual harmony with each season's clothing. On some occasions, the shop window has even served as the artist's workshop, offering a unique spectacle to pedestrians.

Recently, Massegú has created large installations that cover the entire facade and windows of the Onix stores. Last year, they cleaned up an illegal tire dump in a forest, using this material to make an intervention on the facade and shop windows during the Girona Temps de Flors festival.

This year, at the same festival, Massegú has recreated a galactic constellation using recycled supermarket guides. This work was seen one way during the day and completely transformed at night, illuminated with ultraviolet light, recreating the visual effect perceived by bees. This installation deserved an entry in the festival's showcase competition.

Today, Massegú's work is recognized by everyone who walks past the Onix store, and their collaboration has made the brand instantly recognisable. Onix Girona has become a kind of Berlin in the middle of Girona, representing the vanguard of new trends in both art and fashion.
