Ferran Rodés, president of the board of trustees of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, and Imma Prieto, director of the institution, have announced one of the initiatives approved by the board of trustees of the entity last week: the name change of the center which, from today, July 1, 2024, it will be called the Tàpies Museum.
With the arrival of the new management, in September 2023, a period of reflection opened. "Questioning who we are, where we come from and where we want to go led us to a new definition of our identity, much closer to the museum than the foundation", pointed out Imma Prieto. "The museum, by definition, communicates directly what we are: a conservation, study, dissemination, open, welcoming space to connect the various critical communities with which we live, through the artistic and intellectual legacy intellectual of Tàpies. At the same time, it allows us to hear what happens beyond us, to make ourselves known to those who do not know us and to the younger generations."
From July 1, 2024, the new graphic proposal of the Tàpies Museum will also be implemented, by Hermanos Berenguer. An image that plays with upper and lower case, in the same way that Tàpies gave importance to the biggest and the smallest, and that maintains the identity of the artist, preserving the accent of his surname.
