May 15 at 6 p.m. the Viladecans Posters exhibition opens, presented by the Museum of the History of Catalonia (MHC), a monographic exhibition dedicated to the artist Joan-Pere Viladecans (Barcelona, 1948). This event will be attended by the Minister of Culture, Natàlia Garriga.
Viladecans Posters shows the largest selection of the painter's posters that has been presented to date and allows us to retrace the evolution of Viladecans' artistic language in different stages: the beginnings of painting, the fascination with the object, the approach to the conceptual art and the search for new expressive forms in contact with nature.
This exhibition conveys an uninhibited and stimulating message about collective values and commitment to culture. An approach to the career of the painter and engraver, through posters, book covers, newspaper and magazine covers, in the context of the recent recognition by the Generalitat de Catalunya with the Creu de Sant Jordi, and also with the National Award of Culture and the Arts awarded by the CoNCA.
The exhibition also allows us to delve into the immense work of Viladecans, who, since the end of the 1960s, has created a personal language full of objects, symbols, geometric shapes and algebraic formulas that has acquired a dimension with class In addition, the exhibition highlights an artistic career always linked to social and cultural movements in Catalonia.
