The La Mercè Cultural Center and the Vila Casas Foundation have presented the exhibition Anatomia de la mirada, by the artist Patricio Reig, which explores the phenomenon of visual perception through photography. The presentation ceremony was attended by the deputy mayor and Councilor for Culture of Girona City Council, Quim Ayats; the curator of the exhibition and art adviser to the Presidency of the Vila Casas Foundation, Natàlia Chocarro; and the artist Patricio Reig.
Anatomy of the gaze raises a reflection on the act of looking, an action inextricably linked to psychology and (inter)subjectivity. It is articulated as a study of the gaze, as a phenomenological investigation that investigates the dialectic of the gaze, of the intersubjective psychology between who looks and who is looked at, with a whole range of subject-objects that look and are looked at through of this window that is the eye.
Patricio Reig (San Juan, Argentina, 1952) is a versatile artist with a career that straddles photography, literature and alchemy. He fuses various technical resources that move his photography away from the function of a simple catalyst of truth and becomes an object that transpires beyond the photographic paper. Reig has developed a poetics from which he creates object-photographs that require an attentive, patient, undivided look... He superimposes text and image, giving texture and depth to the photograph, and turns the photographic document into a text and a painting at the same time, in a tactile object that asks to be caressed, like a poem, with the gaze.
The exhibition can be visited until June 21,
