Curated by Nimfa Bisbe and Arola Valls, the exhibition Horizon and Limit. Visions del paisaje, which can be visited until September 1 at CaixaForum Barcelona, explores this theme through works by artists such as Tacita Dean , Perejaume , Andreas Gursky , Joan Fontcuberta , among others. The selection includes pieces from the "La Caixa" Foundation's Contemporary Art Collection, as well as loans from artists and collections from different institutions.

The title, "Horizon and limit", wants to emphasize the way we perceive the territory. Faced with the immensity of the world, human beings can only learn it by framing their gaze and representing what, ultimately, is an illusion. The exhibition is divided into thematic sections that address the fiction of the landscape, the perception and experience of the landscape, as well as the human impact on nature.

The landscape, as a pictorial genre, acquired relevance in European culture from the 17th century and reached its peak in the 19th century, from Romanticism to Impressionism. Currently, the natural landscape has regained prominence, both because of the creative possibilities offered by digital technology, and also because of the growing concern about the deterioration of nature and the environmental threat of climate change. Initially, the landscape made it possible to dream of the idea of paradise and embodied unknown or remote places, while today it resurfaces in art with the hybridization of images and the possibility of creating new fictions.

The exhibition is divided into thematic sections that address the fiction, perception and experience of the landscape, as well as the human impact on nature. You will have the opportunity to take a tour of a set of works corresponding to various artistic disciplines with names such as Hamish Fulton , Oriol Vilanova , Hiroshi Sugimoto , Dionís Escorsa , Bleda & Rosa , Michael Najjar , Rémy Zaugg , Joan Hernández Pijuan, Miquel Barceló , Cristina Lucas , Daniel Steegmann Mangrané , Patricia Dauder, Julius von Bismarck , Thomas Demand and Xavier Ribas , among others.
