Antònia Maria Perelló Ferrer has been proposed to be appointed managing director of the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca by the Selection Committee, which met on April 12 in Palma.
In a statement, the Selection Committee for the position of director-management of the Foundation has informed that it has proposed to appoint Perelló Ferrer as managing director of the Foundation for her " solid institutional vision and strategic capacity" defining an "encouraging project for the Foundation rooted in the Balearic reality and its international projection".
"The project responds to the needs and requirements of this moment and of the coming years", according to the Selection Committee, adding that it proposes "a contemporary look" at Miró's legacy by addressing "political-social emergencies and ethical commitment, in addition of the climate and environmental emergency".
In addition, the Selection Committee has valued Perelló's "extensive and consistent experience in the museum sector in contemporary art", "demonstrating great knowledge in the study and care of collections, curatorship, and museum procedures".
The Commission has also valued Perelló Ferrer's "great capacity for implementation and strategic prioritization in sponsorship and patronage" "to ensure the sustainability and growth of the institution".
On the other hand, the Selection Committee wanted to record the high level of all the candidacies presented. The proposal will finally be submitted for approval by the Foundation's Governance Committee next Thursday, April 18, and subsequently for ratification by the Board of Trustees on May 9, 2024.
