From April 11 to March 20, 2024, Sala Dalmau presents the exhibition Re-vision of Jordi Amagat, a retrospective exhibition that covers the bulk of the artist's career, from the early 90s to the actuality
In Amagat's work they have always lived in a world close to abstraction and a personal figurative work. From the beginning of the 90s we present different works on paper that show his mastery of the subject, as well as his interest in color, which in these years focuses on earth tones. Over the years, Amagat incorporates the human figure, a resounding, robust presence, which he usually presents with a delicacy that brings him closer to Art Deco.
This figure is joined by dreamlike, solid landscapes that hide faces, stories, mysteries... as well as a freer use of color, expanding the palette and bringing new chromatic nuances to his compositions. In his most recent paintings, black dominates the work, but its combination with strokes of powerful reds and yellows offers us a new and vibrant result.
Since his beginnings, the artist from Girona has started from the historical avant-gardes such as cubism, surrealism, metaphysical painting or art deco to develop his particular universe in which landscapes, figures and, especially , faces Throughout his career he has been making these influences his own to give rise to a personal figure that has been stripped of unnecessary effects and elements to focus on everything that is essential for him.
