Galician artistic manager David Barro López (1974) has won the competition to fill the position of director of Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art in Palma, an election that must be ratified by the institution's executive committee and board of trustees.
As reported by Es Baluard, the evaluation committee has considered that the best of the twenty proposals presented is that of Barro, who since 2017 has been the director of the Didac Foundation, an organization for the dissemination of design and contemporary arts based in Santiago of Compostela.
The evaluation of the candidates was carried out by a jury formed by Guillermo Solana, the director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum Madrid, the art critic Fernando Castro Flórez, the curator Neus Cortés, the artist Bernardí Roig and the cultural manager Alicia Ventura Es Baluard points out that the next director has a career of twenty-five years in the artistic and cultural sector, both as a manager of entities linked to contemporary art and design and as a curator of exhibitions, editor, writer and artistic director.
