The Toy Museum reopens its doors

The Toy Museum reopens its doors on March 15 after the completion of the second phase of renovation works. The work, ordered by the City Council, has consisted of carrying out part of the adaptation and updating of the equipment to the fire regulations.

One of the novelties is that the Museum reopens with a new space dedicated to the puppets of Aube Breton , daughter of the surrealist André Breton.

As they explain from the Toy Museum, in 1938 André Breton, writer and promoter of the surrealist movement together with his wife, the painter Jacqueline Lamba, spent five months in Mexico, and stayed in the house of muralist Diego Rivera and painter Frida Kahlo, where they met communist leader Lev Trotsky and his wife Natalia Sedova. The three married couples traveled the country to discover Mexican culture and in a market in Mexico City, Frida Kahlo and Jacqueline Lamba bought, in half, a magnificent set of handmade puppets that can now be seen on the first floor of the Figueres equipment.
