Open call for the XXVI L'Escala 2024 International Spring Artistic Scholarship

L'Escala City Council announces the XXVI L'Escala 2024 International Spring Artistic Scholarship. L'Escala City Council (Girona, Catalonia) created this international scholarship aimed at creators in the world of arts . Its purpose is to bet on a platform for the expression, development and thinking of art; study and research in this field; promote communication between different sensitivities, cultures and geographical origins; promote the dissemination of contemporary art and, at the same time, energize the immediate territorial environment in collaboration with the resident artist.

The stay lasts three months at the Casa Forestal de Sant Martí d'Empúries, a medieval village in the municipality of l'Escala, located by the sea in an incomparable landscape. The accommodation and creative workshop offer excellent living conditions. The workshop and the exhibition or the presentation of the resulting work may be at the Carolingian Castle of Sant Martí d'Empúries depending on the availability of spaces and the selected project.

Any professional or practitioner of artistic creation, who has a solid artistic career and who can commit to having a continuous presence throughout the entire stay, can apply for the scholarship. The modalities in which they can participate will be those of PAINTING, SCULPTURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO or any other within the PLASTIC AND VISUAL ARTS. There is the possibility of presenting in a team of artists with a maximum of two. Artists of any nationality can participate in the scholarship.

It is a three-month stay in Sant Martí d'Empúries (l'Escala) during the spring months (April - June) of 2024, to develop the project and it can be extended into the autumn to monitor the exhibition . Each participant undertakes (at the end of the stay) to exhibit the resulting work in order to share it with the public and spread the work. The work will be exhibited in a municipal cultural facility in l'Escala throughout the year 2024.

Requirements to apply for the Spring 2024 Scholarship :

• Be over 18 years of age and of any nationality.
• Candidate files will be sent only in digital format (PDF) using the application form and written in Catalan, Spanish or English. All dossiers submitted in another language or with a lack of documentation will be removed from the call and destroyed.
