The Archaeological Museum of Catalonia opens the Passion of the Ancients temporary exhibition on February 29, at 7 p.m. Donation Esteve Estival, curated by archaeologist and museologist Àngels Casanovas. The exhibition presents a careful selection of a total of 143 archaeological objects donated by Mr. Estival's family and which will now be exhibited at the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia.
The exhibition, of a very special nature, has unique pieces that go from the second millennium BC to the sixteenth century AD and cover a wide range of provenance: prehistory and protohistory, the Roman world, late antiquity and the Visigoths, and the Islamic and medieval world. Small objects full of life, which the MAC has restored and incorporated into its collection. It is a collection of metal specimens - iron, bronze, copper or lead - of very diverse functions, such as horse harnesses, crosses and talismans or decorative coatings.
The MAC has thanked the generosity and commitment to the heritage and culture of the Igualadí collector Esteve Estival and his family, the culture and the country, which has materialized in this exhibition. For the museum, donations such as this one are vital for the cultural and social enrichment of both the museum and the public, and allow the collection's heritage to be better conserved and disseminated, keeping its memory alive.
