bonart girona - 31/01/24

On January 27 at 12:00 in the morning, the Baobab exhibition by Amadou Loum was inaugurated at Espai de la Llibreria 22, Carrer Hortes, 22 in Girona. Since 2001, Amadou Loum has been working and developing the subject of "Baobab". This artist was born in Sebikotane, near Dakar (Senegal), and there lives a large baobab they call Gouye Sippi.

According to Amadou "the baobab is a tree that lives for many years - some are fifteen hundred years old - and is sacred in Africa. It gives us food, drink, warmth and shade. It also has medicinal properties and plays a very important role within our spiritual world; not only for humans, but also for animals and nature itself”. It must be said that Amadou began to communicate with him, and this is how he began his spiritual journey with this very unique tree that is also known as the tree of life. According to Amadou "for me it is an inexhaustible source of inspiration and inner enrichment".

Visiting hours to the exhibition are from Monday to Friday from 17:30 to 20:00 in the evening.

Exhibition in memory of Pau Baena

From 7:00 p.m. on the afternoon of February 5, the inauguration of When the Hearts Fly by Pau Baena (1961-2023) will take place, which not only serves as a tribute to the memory of this artist, but also as a reminder of his lasting impact on the world of contemporary art. His works, loaded with meaning and beauty, capture the ephemeral essence of life, body and soul and transcend it through the immortality of art. They do not seek to provide easy answers, but rather invite the audience to engage in thoughtful dialogue and challenge conventional perceptions, offering a complex look at society and its impact on our everyday lives. The exhibition becomes a meeting space where minds are opened and pre-established perceptions are challenged.
