The History Museum of Catalonia inaugurates 'Another story'

From the 1st of February to the 28th of April you can visit the exhibition Another story at the Museum of the History of Catalonia, the exhibition created from the program of the same name produced by 3Cat with the collaboration of El Terrat (The Mediapro Studio) and hosted by Albert Om, which was broadcast by the Catalan public network throughout the months of November and December 2023.

The program was recorded in eight emblematic spaces of Catalan heritage: the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, the Art Museum of Girona, the Castle of Santa Florentina de Canet de Mar, the University of Barcelona, the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus, the Pere Mata Institute in Reus, the 2 Palau Episcopal in Solsona and the Castle of Gardeny in Lleida, where people from all over Catalonia presented different objects and explained their personal stories and particularities that made them unique.

The exhibition presents the 100 original objects with the history they contain, and defines them based on the testimony of their owners. 100 small stories that contextualized historically and culturally are the basis of our country's history. The exhibition allows us to put the value of material culture on the table and discover those treasures until now kept in a drawer or an attic that hide extraordinary stories and speak of our collective history.

It is an exhibition that aims not only to show the selection, but also to invite us to reflect on the role of material culture in socialization dynamics. From the Museum of the History of Catalonia, we aim to be a meeting point for the History of Catalonia where this micro-history or these small personal stories that must stop being anonymous and which are, in fact, the basis of the history of our country and that can transport us to a wider story. The program Another Story is based on the National Treasures format, created and licensed by EZ Films – Ireland and premiered with great success on public television in Ireland and also adapted in Denmark and New Zealand. Among the various adaptations of the space is Tresors con historia a À Punt, a co-production of El Terrat and Sunrise Pictures.
