On January 3 from 7:00 p.m., the new temporary exhibition of Joan Vilajoana i Cots (Moià, 1965) was inaugurated in the Exhibition Hall of the Chamber of Urban Property in Girona.
In this exhibition, Vilajoana presents us with her latest production of work in which she states that "I undo papers to make paper again. Undo to do. The fact of physical walking has led me to go inside again in nature: and at the same time inside me. And both in nature and in me I have found and seen labyrinths, paths and paths, chromatic ranges of colors, impossible architectures, etc." and adds that "the challenge has been to find a way to use paper as a material to embody this fact: to walk and be the same as the nature that is allowed to be contemplated". According to the artist, during the production process of the works he dedicates himself to observing nature and looks for a way to show it through the paper he manipulates himself. From nature he grasps the stones and quarries, the paths made and those he creates himself while walking, clearings of light or connection with himself...
In this last work the theoretical framework is the work itself. And the result is organic textures, the contradiction of colors, impossible strokes, etc. "It's about painting, but in this work, the painting is paper," Vilajoana points out.
Regarding the professional career of the artist, he has held many individual exhibitions throughout the province of Girona, and has participated in several fairs in Dubai, Madrid, Jaén, etc.
The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday from 16:00 to 19:00 in the evening.
