The Executive Board of the Picasso Museum Foundation has announced the resolution of the international competition called in March 2023 for the selection of the Artistic Director who will lead the Museum during the period between 2024 and 2029. The selected candidate, who assumes the position immediately at the beginning of January 2024, is Miguel López-Remiro Forcada. He has been chosen for his suitability to assume this key role in the institution and based on the basis of the international competition called.

From the museum they highlight his "outstanding career in the artistic, cultural and educational field". He has been deputy curatorial director of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, founding director of the University of Navarra Museum and curator at institutions such as the Sorigué Foundation or the Otazu Foundation. And an important detail: "My whole career is linked to one key factor: I am an artist", he writes himself on the profile of a social network. In fact, he exhibits regularly.

The new director will have a gross annual salary of 80,000 euros per year, in addition to an allocation of up to 35,000 euros for housing and up to 5,000 euros per year for private trips. In total, the remuneration can reach 120,000 euros with its incentives. A good number that seems to have been insufficient for one of the names in the final three of the selection committee, who eventually resigned due to personal issues.
