Eduard Vallès, Head of Collections of the National Art Museum of Catalonia

The appointment of Eduard Vallès as Head of Collections at the National Art Museum of Catalonia comes at a particularly opportune time, when the Museum is in the middle of the work process of the New Museum project, which will allow the story to unfold complete about the collections. Art historian and academic, his expertise in Catalan art from the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century and his long experience in museum institutions such as the Picasso Museum, the Palau de Caldes d'Estrac Foundation and the MNAC, strengthens the Museum's team at a key moment.

Eduard Vallès (Tortosa, 1971) has been curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia since 2016. In 2021 he was the curator of the new rooms of the Museum's permanent collection National dedicated to the Civil War.

Since 2019 he has been a member of the Historical-Archaeological Section of the Institute of Catalan Studies. He has previously been director-curator of the Palau de Caldes d'Estrac Foundation and curator of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.

He holds a PhD in art history from the University of Barcelona, a Master's in advanced studies in art history from the University of Barcelona, and a postgraduate degree in the management of institutions, platforms and cultural facilities from Pompeu Fabra University. He has alternated scientific research tasks with the curation of exhibitions and the management of museum equipment. Picasso and Rusiñol stand out among his publications.
