The Unexpected Lives project, which can be visited until January 7, 2024, brings together six selected works that are distributed along the museum's route, from prehistory to the modern era. A painting by Josep Maria Subirachs, from Artur Ramon Art, reflects on death next to the reproduction of the tomb of a woman in an advanced state of pregnancy, from the Bronze Age, from Minferri (Juneda). Further on, in a showcase in the Ilerget area, a sculpture by Marta Pruna, from the Espai Cavallers Gallery in Lleida, shows a strong woman firmly rooted to the ground.
In the medieval rooms, a work by Marie-France Veyrat, from the Atelier Gallery in Barcelona, evokes the cross as a universal symbol, dialoguing with a series of Romanesque crosses. A painting by Josep Maria Garcia-Llort (Sala Dalmau, Barcelona) presents a nun fraternizing with the devil, while in the Gothic altarpiece next door, Saint Bartholomew and Saint Michael subdue the beast. The Imaginart Gallery in Barcelona is exhibiting a work by Maria Eugenia Trujillo, a kind of custody with icons related to femininity, which can be seen in one of the areas of the modern era.
Finally, the work of Lorenzo Fernández (Pigment Gallery) reflects on the concept of looting works of art, on one of the empty walls that is still present in the museum since 2021, when the works in litigation from the parishes of the Strip.
