Since November 2nd, you can visit the temporary exhibition The art of a village doctor. In debt to the rural doctor. 120 years after the birth of Dr. Martí Casals at the History Museum of Sant Feliu de Guíxols – Old Hospital. This exhibition wants to recognize the career of medical professionals and reflect on the evolution of medicine in the rural world. Over the next few months this exhibition, organized by the Community of Municipalities of the Vall d'Aro for the management of the Center for the Rural Doctor, will tour the municipalities of Castell-Platja d'Aro and Santa Cristina d'Aro.

Once the traveling of this exhibition ends, it has been announced that the intention is to put this sample at the service of institutions, entities and federations of popular culture interested in receiving it on loan.. Defending a humanistic medicine that examines the patient physically and psychologically, without making distinctions in his treatment, the doctor became more than a doctor: a person of reference for the society of the time in the same valley. The exhibition can be visited until February 4, 2024 from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. On Sundays it is open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Ricard Mur's exhibition extended

On the other hand, the exhibition of photography by Ricard Mur (Gallur. Zaragoza, 1875 – Sant Feliu de Guíxols 1939) has been extended, which is part of the annual initiative of the History Workshops, led by the Archive Municipal and which was inaugurated last January 25, 2023. This exhibition wants to pay tribute to Mur both for his artistic qualities and for his task of documenting the historical moment, which shows a St. Feliu disappeared and allows us to see what society, the city and the natural environments were like in the 1920s. The images in the exhibition come from the same Municipal Archive of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and also part of INSPAI, the Image Center of the Diputació de Girona. It should be remembered that Ricard Mur was a photographer of the first half of the 20th century known for his portraits of the landscape, customs and people; and also for the production and edition of the famous postcards.
