The La Peixera area of the Terracotta Museu de la Bisbal d'Empordà presents, from October 20 this year, the new temporary exhibition by Iona Palau entitled 40º. According to the ceramist "this exhibition is the starting point of the work entitled 40º, an experimentation based on the dialogue between clay, fire and me, which seeks synergies between scoliosis and the pyroplastic deformation that red clay suffers, playing with the asymmetry and beauty of imperfect forms" and adds that "for this sample I have investigated the pyroplastic deformation of the ferruginous clay of my town, Sant Just Desvern, adding a new element of dialogue which is the territory" .
The work of 40º is a work of reconciliation with the artist's back and at the same time it is very vindictive, since, on the one hand, it wants to promote red clay and its use in the creation of artistic ceramics, taking awareness of the wealth of the territory, and on the other hand, he wants to bet on creation from the defect and claim the prefix DE- by reversing its negative connotation and using it in a positive way.
The artist invites the viewer to enter his "deformed world" where the pieces are made and designed to be touched and experienced.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00 in the morning and from 16:00 to 19:00 in the afternoon until January 14, 2024.
