A painter with the spirit of an opera singer. Joan Sendra discovers the most intimate Josep Nogué with the edition of the book Roma. The memory map. Diaries by J. Nogué Massó (1914-1917), which was presented at the Museum of Modern Art of the Tarragona Province on October 20.

Coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the Santa Coloma de Queralt painter, the MAMT hosts an exhibition of postcards, photographs and newspaper clippings from the life of the painter during the period he was in Italy, as a pensioner of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, between 1914 and 1917.

An era that is collected in detail in the edition of a book edited by Joan Sendra who has carried out a research task based on the documentary and artistic collection of the J. Nogué Archive of the MAMT, given by the son of artist between 1990 and 1996.

Nogué's most personal correspondence, catalogues, diaries, newspaper clippings and an important collection of postcards have been the basis of this meticulous study of the artist which has been complemented by an exhibition that can be visited at the MAMT until to January 28, 2024.

In 1993 the MAMT published the book Memorias de un pintor. Spanish painting at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, where the life and work of this Colombian artist was reviewed, highlighting important figures in Nogué's life and the cultural and artistic life of the beginning of the 20th century. From that edition, the painter's son gave the Archive of letters, postcards, diaries, personal diary, etc. to the MAMT. of the painter
