The Friends of the Girona Art Museum promote 'Conversations between Friends' to bring the museum closer to the public

The Friends of the Girona Art Museum have promoted a communication campaign to bring the museum closer to the city and the rest of Girona. To do this, four video capsules have been created with various personalities related to the world of culture. The "Conversations between Friends" aim to put art and culture at the center. During these, topics such as enjoying art, what should be the role of cultural institutions such as the Girona Art Museum or how art can be made available to everyone, among others, were discussed.

One of the conversations was between the cultural journalist, Eva Vázquez, and the historian Joaquim Nadal. Another is between fellow journalist Emma Granyer and the doctor in art history, Pere Parramon. Ígrid Guardiola, director of Bòlit Girona, and Ricard Planas, art critic and curator, participate in the third conversation. Finally, the fourth conversation is between the director of the Girona Art Museum, Carme Clusellas, and the artist and muralist Aleix Font. All the videos have been recorded at the museum and can be seen on the Friends of the Art Museum youtube channel and on social networks.

Beyond the creation of the four capsules, the Friends of the Art Museum association has also promoted a series of conferences in the city's civic centers. A proposal that aims to approach art and the collections of the Girona Art Museum from different perspectives: engineering, science, history, beliefs or psychology. The talks will be given by members of the same organization, to break with the belief that you need to have a great academic background to be able to enjoy art. The cycle will begin during the fall and will last during the first quarter of 2024. All conferences will have free admission.

The Friends of the Girona Art Museum is a non-profit association that was born in 1992. It aims to promote and publicize the museum and help to preserve and improve its heritage and the growth of the collection Currently, it has almost 600 members, which makes it one of the Girona organizations with the most associative muscle.
