The Girona Est Foundation opens its new headquarters: the Casa de les Arts

The Girona Est Foundation has launched a new facility for the city, a house from the seventies completely renovated in Mas Ramada will be the new headquarters of the House of Arts , a space that "wants to unite the city that ignores the neighborhood and the neighborhood that ignores the city", explains the president of the foundation, Jaume Sanabras. The initiative is one hundred percent private and will also host the headquarters of the Azahara association.

The presentation, which took place on October 18, was attended by four councilors from the government team, headed by the vice-mayor and councilor for Economic Promotion, Gemma Geis (Joint), and the councilor for Culture, Quim Ayats ( CKD); the representative of the Provincial Council of Girona, Jordi Camps, and the delegate of the Generalitat, Laia Cañigueral. "This initiative helps fill the gap that exists in Catalonia in terms of disciplines such as music, cooking or architecture and is reminiscent of the Can Ricart Arts campus in Poble Nou, in Barcelona," said Geis.

In the short term, the Casa de les Arts is the headquarters of the foundation, which has 56 members, the vast majority of which are companies. Bonart Cultural is also one of the organizations that collaborates in this project . The house has work rooms, a large multipurpose room and an outdoor space where you can hold "exhibitions, present books or musical performances", explains the manager of the entity, Bernat Rubió. Recently, the plastic activist and cartoonist Aleix Font Arroyo has painted the same Casa de les Arts and led a performance a few months ago at the Vila-roja school, in which 3rd and 5th grade students helped define how it should be the graffiti of the school. It is in some way a replica of an initiative that grows every year in the neighborhoods of Can Gibert and Santa Eugènia de Ter with the Monart festival.
